    Hydroxychloroquine for polymyalgia rheumatica

Polymyalgia literally means "many muscle pains." Rheumatica means "changing" or "in flux." About 15% of people with polymyalgia rheumatica also have temporal arteritis and about half of people with temporal arteritis also have polymyalgia rheumatica. Temporal arteritis causes inflammation that damages large and medium-sized arteries.

We report here cases of rheumatoid arthritis RA and polymyalgia rheumatica PMR occurring after ICI treatment. METHODS We conducted a retrospective study on a collection of patients receiving an ICI in whom symptoms of arthritis or arthralgia developed and revealed a diagnosis of RA or PMR through the Gustave Roussy Cancer Center Villejuif. Polymyalgia rheumatica sometimes referred to as PMR is a common cause of widespread aching and stiffness that affects adults over the age of 50, especially Caucasians. Because polymyalgia rheumatica does not often cause swollen joints, it may be hard to recognize. It may occur with another health problem, giant cell arteritis. Hydroxychloroquine is used in the treatment of SLE and rheumatoid arthritis. It was originally designed to treat malaria and occassionally still used for this. Hydroxychloroquine has antiinflammatory, antithrombotic, and immunomodulatory properties. It normally takes 2-3 months to notice the benefit from hydroxychloroquine.

Temporal arteritis is also known as "giant cell arteritis." Polymyalgia rheumatica and temporal arteritis frequently affect the same types of people. Everyone with polymyalgia rheumatica is also tested for temporal arteritis. The name of the condition stems from the fact that some of the affected arteries provide blood to the head, including the temples. These diseases are more common among women, and Caucasians are more likely to get these diseases than other ethnic groups. Under the new criteria developed by the American College of Rheumatology and The European League Against Rheumatism, patients ages 50 years and older can be classified as having PMR if they meet the conditions below: The new classification criteria may also help to evaluate existing treatments for polymyalgia rheumatica.

Polymyalgia rheumatic PMR is a frequent inflammatory disease. It affects the elderly, with peak incidences at the age of 70 to 80 years; an age 50 years or older, is considered a criterion for the diagnosis. Polymyalgia rheumatica occurs at a frequency that is 3 to 10 times that of giant-cell arteritis. Polymyalgia rheumatica is reported only by a few people who take Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate. We study 11,813 people who have side effects while taking Hydroxychloroquine sulfate from Food and Drug Administration FDA. Among them, 4 have Polymyalgia rheumatica. Find out below who they are, when they have Polymyalgia rheumatica and more. Therapy for polymyalgia rheumatica PMR varies widely in clinical practice as international recommendations for PMR treatment are not currently available. In this paper, we report the 2015 European League Against Rheumatism EULAR/American College of Rheumatology ACR recommendations for the management of PMR. We used the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation.
