    Does hydroxychloroquine lower immune system

I am asking this question, because I started this med approx. 1 month ago and prior to taking it I rarely ever got sick with colds, flu etc.

Is hypoglycemia related to use of plaquenil Plaquenil brittle hair

How does Plaquenil work? Plaquenil changes the way your immune system works. In some kinds of lupus, your immune system attacks your body instead of protecting it. Plaquenil tries to quiet or slow down the immune system. How do you take Plaquenil? You take Plaquenil as a pill 1 or 2 times a day. Take the pills with food or milk. Plaquenil itself probably does not have a direct affect on your immune system - it is a DMARD and is not considered to be an immunosuppressant. However, many with active autoimmune diseases feel that they are not succeptible to many of the common viruses that they are exposed to - somewhat of a silver lining. The mechanism is unknown. Combining telbivudine Tyzeka and hydroxychloroquine may increase the risk of unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness because both drugs cause such side effects. Hydroxychloroquine suppresses the immune system and should not be combined with drugs that also suppress the immune system or live vaccines.

Around 2 weeks ago, I came down with a doozy of an illness (flulike with croup like cough that just won't quit). The only thing that usually ever ailed me were the crappy Sjogrens symptoms.

  7. All work by suppressing the immune system. If he wants this type of drug he can try to balance control of his autoimmune disease with the risk of infection. What I mean is He might want to consider taking a lower dose of Plaquenil. This won't suppress his immune system quite as much but it also won't completely control his Sjogrens.

Causes and Treatment of Degenerative Arthritis Degenerative arthritis is the most common type of arthritis, affecting around 30 million Americans. Also referred to as osteoarthritis, degenerative joint disease, and wear-and-tear arthritis, it occurs when joint cartilage and underlying bone begin to deteriorate, causing progressive pain, stiffness, and joint malformation.
