    Plaquenil sulfa drug

I read that the sulfa in Plaquenil is different from those in antibiotics and most people with Lupus have an allergy to Sulfa but can take Plaquenil without any problems. I can say, however, that I have not had any cross allergic reaction to other drugs sometimes associated with sulfa allergies. Whether you try Plaquenil or not is ultimately up to you and your doctor, but a lot will depend on the type and severity of reactions that you've had.

PLAQUENIL hydroxychloroquine sulfate tablets is indicated for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, and discoid and systemic lupus erythematosus, in patients who have not responded satisfactorily to drugs with less potential for serious side effects. Sep 02, 2009 I have been allergic to sulfa meds for over 30 years. I have been taking plaquenil for about 8 years with no problems. However, I was givin the generic Plaquenil at first, and I did have a reaction to that - until now I didn't reliese was the same as my sulfa reaction. Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine is an effective medication for autoimmune conditions and malaria that comes with less side effects than other DMARDs. Azulfidine Sulfasalazine is used to treat moderate to severe inflammatory bowel conditions. It's also used with other medicines to treat rheumatoid arthritis.

My reaction to sulfa consisted of wheezing, but no major distress, and Plaquenil was sufficiently different from Gantrisin that my doctor felt comfortable with prescribing it. Rashes are certainly a lot less severe than respiratory reactions.

Feb 17, 2009 Plaquenil isn't a 'sulfa' drug which means a certain sort of antibiotic, the sulfonamides. Plenty of people who are allergic to those sulfa drugs take Plaquenil without any problem. This sounds all very odd to me! Mar 17, 2019 Hydroxychloroquine is a quinoline medicine used to treat or prevent malaria, a disease caused by parasites that enter the body through the bite of a mosquito. Malaria is common in areas such as Africa, South America, and Southern Asia. Before using Plaquenil, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have psoriasis, porphyria, liver disease, alcoholism, or glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase G-6-PD deficiency. Take Plaquenil for the full prescribed length of time for malaria. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared.

The treatment options for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are based mainly on the stage (extent) of the cancer, but other factors, such as a person’s overall health and lung function, as well as certain traits of the cancer itself, are also important.
