    Plaquenil discontinuation syndrome

Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly. Anita- It is hard to say whether I noticed a difference when I first went on plaquenil, because I was also on 10mg of prednisone at that time, and I didn't start weaning down from that until I had been on plaquenil for a few months.

Chloroquine and proguanil boots Can hydroxychloroquine cause chronic colutis Plaquenil help paying Hydroxychloroquine less common side effects

Saturday was a week since I stopped taking Plaquenil, aka Hydroxychloroquine, per my doctor's instructions, and I think I am going through some form of withdrawal. I took the drug as a treatment for sarcoidosis and one of the side effects is a reduction in white blood cells, which is what has happened to me. Discontinuation of hydroxychloroquine could decrease hydrocodone plasma concentrations, decrease opioid efficacy, and potentially lead to a withdrawal syndrome in those with physical dependence to hydrocodone. What is Withdrawal syndrome? Withdrawal syndrome a discontinuation syndrome is a set of symptoms occurred due to discontinuation of substance has been reported by people with depression, pain, stress and anxiety, fibromyalgia, back pain. Check the latest reports from 24,199 Withdrawal syndrome patients, or browse all conditions.

To answer some of your other questions, it was the same timeframe for me. I can say that the prednisone wean was successful, even after having only been on plaquenil a few months.

Nov 09, 2018 Hydroxychloroquine is used to treat or prevent malaria, a disease caused by parasites that enter the body through the bite of a mosquito. Malaria is common in areas such as Africa, South America. May 15, 2015 It would be unlikely IMO that the Plaquenil is the cause, since there is tapering necessary when stopping it and no documented 'withdrawal' syndrome associated with it. If you have taken it for a long time, it is probably not even out of your system yet, since Plaquenil has a half-life of 30-60 DAYS not hours. If any severe blood disorder such as aplastic anemia, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, or thrombocytopenia, appears which is not attributable to the disease under treatment, consider discontinuation of Plaquenil. Plaquenil should be administered with caution in patients having glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase G-6-PD deficiency.

Let me tell you what weaning down from Plaquenil is like. So that's the update. The lesson here is - for those who need to go off plaquenil, be careful about just going off it cold turkey. Obviously some of CAN do that, but if you don't know if you're one of them - better to be on the safe side and wean slowly. Take it from me! I am feeling much better after bumping my dose back up over the last few.
